Medal from Polish Council of Australia

Medal of Recognition to the Polish Association of Newcastle

The Polish Community Council of Australia awarded the Medal of Recognition to the Polish Association of Newcastle for over 70 years of Polish community work.

The Polish Association in Newcastle is one of the oldest member organizations of the Polish Community Council of Australia. When the Association was founded in 1952, for the following 50 years, it was led by representatives of the first post-war emigration in Australia. A generational shift occurred in 2002 when the leadership was taken over by the emigration of the 80s and 90s. This transition was carried out with respect for the cultural and material heritage, as well as the traditions of the association. The respect and care for what the Association passes on to the next generations are visible in Newcastle. The Polish House, built with membership fees and donations from unaffiliated Poles, is continually modernized and remains a platform for diverse multicultural initiatives.

Since its opening in 1973, the Polish House has also served as the headquarters for the Saturday Polish School, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. Within the Polish Association, there were the popular "Kujawy," which now have their new incarnation as the present "Rzeszowiacy".

This recognition serves as a source of motivation and positive energy for us to continue our mission of preserving and promoting Polish culture and supporting our community.

We are grateful for the support and encouragement we have received.
